HUMBL

HUMBL is a FinTech company focused on developing digital services on the blockchain.

As a UI/UX Design Lead, I led our team in maintaining and implementing UI patterns and design libraries for the product team. I also collaborated with product managers and engineers to develop new features in current or future sprints. I was part of the design process from start to finish, beginning with mind maps and user flows and ending with hi-fidelity prototypes.

My Role: Product Design Lead

Location: Remote

Brief: Mobile app rebrand and creation of new financial features.

Challenges

The HUMBL Pay app was created to connect consumers and merchants through seamless transactions, purchase crypto assets, send/receive payments, and gain interest over time.

The product strategy was to solve four different types of problems: the idea that crypto is used as a volatile investment rather than a utility tool, the high cost of global transactions, the limitations caused by centralized institutions, and finally the high complexity of crypto to new users.

High Risk, High Reward

Crypto used as a risky investment vs. its potential use as a utility.

Centralized Institutions

Banks and institutions vs. borderless global networks.

Global Transaction Costs

Sending money globally can be a costly transaction.

Complexity of Crypto

Cryptocurrency can be difficult to understand.

Solutions

Four solutions emerged to confront the challenges at hand.

The Digital Wallet's creation was suggested to serve as a versatile utility tool, streamlining multiple functions. The second feature was to enabling gasless transactions between HUMBL users, which aimed to enhance peer-to-peer interactions.

Decentralized transactions via Blockchain were proposed for heightened security and finally, the improvement of our user interface (UI) sought to elevate usability and foster a user-centric design.

These solutions sought to not just overcome immediate challenges, but to also establish a robust, user-friendly foundation for the apps’ growth.

Design Initiatives

We chose to prioritize taking on the design initiative of revamping our mobile app interface. Our primary objective was to ensure ADA compliance. By going from a blue background to an accessible white one, we also updated our entire design guidelines and components.

Iconography

From our updated color palette, I created a set of illustrations that could be used throughout the app for different states such as successful transfers and introduction of new features.
